      hey everyone,

i am glad that i found this forum. seems like there are plenty of useful tips and helpful people here.

i'm a biological student from singapore and just started using SU last week.

i need to create some totally organic shapes but i have tried several ways and failed to create one.

here are some of the problems i am having now and really appreciate if you guys can help me out.

      1. how to create a fishnet. i know it's not difficult to create a mesh, i can duplicate hexagon and arrange them in the way that i want. but the mesh that created is in one plane. how can i make it like a piece of cloth, like a fishnet so i can wrap this net around the object or model that i want?

      2. how to create a bean. i manage to create a bean in 3D using CatMull Clark subdivision. i drew a rough bean shape using line tool and pull it up. then apply CatMull Clark subdivision. it turns out ok but i not sure how to edit it further. like smoothen it further more, or maybe modify the shape again. i have watched the tutorial about the paid subdivision and smooth plugin, it seems like you can easily modify the shape by adding or deleting new faces. is that possible to do in this CC plugin as well?

thank you very much for all your comments. you may not give me a step by step tutorial if you have no time. you can point me to a specific plugin or any other tutorial. i can pick up the skills myself. i just want to know if it is possible to construct the above two models using SU in the first place.

      thanks!!! πŸ˜„

        Hi and Welcome.

Creating the net could be quite time consuming. Could you use a texture or does it have to be a drawn face?

TIG's Extrude Tools can do this...

          Netting.jpg

1 - is the profiles and rails used
2 - is option using lines as output
3 - is option using lines diagonals
          4 - is using geometry

What you're asking is possible but labour intensive!
