Sketchup awfull under Mac OS 10 ???
-
How come sketchup is so slow and unresponsive under mac os 10?
I get awesome performance under windows 7 (64) but real bad performance under mac os 10 (Snow leopard)
My machine is a Mac pro 2008 with the nvidia GTX 285. I have mac os and windows 7 on 2 separate HD...
I have been trying to figure this out for a while... Does anyone know if there is a way to explain this/ Fix it?

There are several Mac OSX users in this forum and I have never seen them comment on how slow.
Watch Jeff Hammond's videos in one of the Active Topics. He doesn't seem to have a problem.
I am an old PC user, old PC, old User, so I cannot help you directly, except to keep this post afloat. -
Certainly not feeling slow for me, though I am using Leopard, not snow leopard.
Unless, of course, you are using a bunch of 3D trees in your scene, or other high poly setups, in which case, SU can seem slow at times.

I don't have an issue with the speed on Snow Leopard on my nearly four year old Macbook Pro, but perhaps my models just aren't that big.

Nope. SketchUp on my Mac Mini rocks. Perhaps your computer is too fast?

Or try turning Hardware Acceleration on or off

Hi folks.
I use SU 8 on a four years old iMac with Intel dual core at 2,16 MHz, 2 Gigs RAM, NVidia card with 256 Megs VRAM and Snow Leopard.
No speed problem so far.
I also run SU 6 and 7.1 occasionnally on this machine without problem.
Are you loading the same model with the same display parameters (shadows, profiles, textures, etc.) on the PC and the Mac ?
Make sure that you have upgraded all of your system software to the latest version.
Best regards.

try the speed test on both your setups,
'shadows on' speeds up my mac with this test, then it stays at around 56.6 f/s with or without shadows in V8
