    Hi,

Can someone let me know how to setup Vray in order for light to be affected by frosted glass? I have set up this render to demonstrate my issue:

    Render.jpg

The block in front should still cast a shadow through the glass plate but it somehow doesn't.

I ultimately want to use frosted glass as a window in an interior scene but so far any modification I make to the material still sees the rendered light with a sharp outline as though the glass were opaque.

    Thanks,

    Drew

      1. Please post your VfSU version when asking questions.

      2. Can you post that sample model? Not sure what is going on there.
Have you applied the glass material on both sides of the face?
Have you ensured that the front side of the face is pointing outwards?

        Here it is:

        Window Render.jpg

I placed another block in front of the window to make sure I set the frost correctly. But you can see that the light falls sharply on the ground. Is there a way to set this up to diffuse through the window?

The latest public release is Vray V1.48.89 - I strongly recommend you upgrade as it fixes a number of issues. (The beta fixes even more - but you need to be part of the beta team for that.)

What is the settings you have for your refraction layer? Do you have Affect Shadows enabled?

No problem, I'll get that update ASAP.

That's it! I hate when it's something so simple! It has now changed to a soft light.

            Thanks a lot.
