When I have a window composed from a glass sheet and a frame how do I create a component which when scaled maintains the width of the frame and the glass. I'd like to be able to scale the window freely without specifying the exact dimensions numerically in the components properties. Should I use dynamic component or there are simpler solutions? Can you recommend me something similar in the 3D Warehouse?

    Thanks.

Dynamic components is a good idea, to fix the frame width when scaling.
A simpler solution is to use the 'Move' tool in editing context of the window component.
See 3D Warehouse model of a window in this link:

p.s. don't forget to each time make your copy component unique before changing its dimensions to desired measures. Otherwise the 'master' component will change.

Fredo's scale plugin has an option for stretching. So if you want to stretch the rail it will not effect the width of the stile it is here http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=17948&hilit=freedo+scale

Wow! Fredo is amazing and gives me exactly what I was looking for and much more interesting features. Anyway, I also had a look at dynamic component tutorial...

          Thanks to you all, guys.

            Hi folks.

You can also use the Move Tool after doing a carefull selection of the stile inside the component definition. Moving the selection will then automatically stretch all edges connected to it.

However, if the window component is composed of subcomponents, this can become a bit tedious.

            Just ideas.
