I'm trying to import a jpeg into sketchup. I've done this dozens of times before. I can't figure out what I've forgotten/am doing wrong.

I've got a sketch going... I went to the internet and saved a jpeg image to my desktop as a jpeg.... I went back to my sketchup window and went to "file" and "import" and "browse" and went to my desktop. For some reason the only options that sketchup is allowing me are SKP files or ACAD files (dwg, dxf)

Seems like last time I attempted this I was allowed to browse for "all file types" or "jpeg" specifically. But now Sketchup does not recognize anything for import but the SKP or ACAD files. What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

Change the drop down at the bottom of the browsing window to look for .jpg

Does your dialogue box look like this?

        Import Box.jpg

        With this drop down list?

        Import Box 2.jpg

I have sketchup open with a project going. I click on "file" in the upper left, click on "import", and am presented with the following window...

          http://i802.photobucket.com/albums/yy303/svejkovat/importjpeg.jpg

When I click on the drop down menu "files of type" the only option I'm provide with, in addition to SketchUp Files (.skp) is "ACAD files (.dwf *.dxf)"

Seems like before I was given a full list of all file types, including JPEG in that dropdown menu, as "Box" suggested.

What am I doing wrong? I'm using Sketchup Pro 7.

Now that is strange. Is it like this for all models?

Oh well. Must be a glich with the last install I made. Unless anyone else can suggest other. I just reinstalled everything on this laptop and this is the first project I've worked on.

For the time being I can just minimize the sketchup desktop window and drag/drop the jpeg into it. Works ok.

It must be some installation error. I would suggest reinstalling (even if drag and drop, as a good, temporary workaround works)

                Gai...

Not sure if this id relevant.
But i was having the same issue, and kept getting "Invalid File" a later noticed i had the file i was trying to import referenced onto my cad file, in other words i was beings used elsewhere. Once i close the Cad file it allowed me to import the image without any issues.
