Through Tenon

How do you cut the mortise for a through tenon?

I think a through tenon is one where you can see the end of it flush with the mortised stock.
Based on this it should be simple. Draw the shape of the mortise on the face of the stock. Use pushpull to push through till you see the edge inference on the far side and release the left button. If a plane remains select it and delete it.

Randy, mitcorb has explained it pretty well. This assumes you are making separate components of the rail with the tenon and the stile or leg that gets the mortise. With the tenon drawn and extending to the outside face or beyond the other member, open that other member for editing and trace the tenon at the face of the leg. In most cases you can use the rectangle tool for that. Then use Push/Pull to push the interior face of the mortise through to the other side. If it makes it easier for you, hide the rail so you can see what you're doing or switch to X-ray. I don't bother because it's easy enough to tell when the tool is on the proper face.

Very good Jean.

I don't find the Solid tools all that useful for drawing joinery like that because they break the relationship of the components to the other instances in the model and it ends up creating more work for me. The Solid tools do come in handy for a lot of other things like creating the drawer fronts and the dovetail sockets for the drawer dividers in this bombé chest.
