Travelling long distance?
-
Mines isn't too bad. Depart Sunday @ 9am arrive in Newark @ 11am then a 3hr wait for connection to Denver. Arrive in Denver for 5pm so i imagine that i'll be checked in showered and sitting in bar for about 8pm. The return is similar with a long wait in Newark.
Total Distance: 4329.03 miles
It's definitely gonna be a holiday as i'm stuck there for a week. So i'll make the most out of it and try and take in some sights.
I'm traveling with Mike so i've some company along the way which is a bonus

-
yeah no offense to anybody from Cincinnati but I had hoped somewhere better to be stuck! I originally got new york but the prices jumped up when I didnt book in time, cant complain really I got the the return for ยฃ370 and I only booked 4-5 weeks in advance!
-
Which carrier are you using? hopefully not AA (American airlines) as they suck!
-
delta for all 4 flights not so bad maybe, apparently free drinks to get me to sleep anyway. However i think im wining for worst travel itinerary so far !
-
I am leaving with an airport transfer 1:50 (am) Sunday dawn and will arrive at 18:30 (or so) p.m. to Denver. Then a transfer again. Add the time zone difference (I am at UTC+1) and that will be a hell of a ride.
-
Im in the same position dubrovnik-frankfurt-denver arriving 16:10
-
Well mine is a road trip. 2531 km (1572 mi) one way. Leave Gabriola Island B.C Canada, catch 2 ferries and end up in port Angeles Washington. Point the car east and a little south and drive. On the way we will pass through the Cascade mountains, the Clearwater forest reserve, and Yellowstone National Park. Leave tomorrow morning on the 5:25 Ferry. I don't think this qualifies for the worst though. Really looking forward to meeting everyone.

Dale, are you driving alone?
I would not dare such a drive, I once drove from Dallas to Destin,Fl which is only 750 miles and it was more than enough, I drove alone too and it was terrible.
-
Pete, No my wife is coming along, and since we have four days to get there, we only have to make about 400 miles a day. Were going to poke along. If anybody has any suggestions of things to take in along our route please let me know.
-
Ah, cool at least you have company and some Itunes to get you through.
I was watching a documentary the other day on either PBS or Discovery about American Truck stops (a modern marvel series) and they featured one in Montana that was mind-blowing, with some fantastic food options at a great price, the Truck accessory shop was also something worth seeing. If I can find it and it's on your route I'll let you know.
-
Cool, we are going to play tourist.
-
I'm not traveling all that far, just flying south to go west. I fly from my local airport straight south to Dallas then to Denver. American Airlines the whole way, so you kind of scare me with your comments, Pete. Alternatively if I were to drive straight west for 7 hours I'd be in Denver...and anyone who has driven interstate-70 through Kansas will tell you it is definitely straight.
-
Wyatt, I'm sure it will be fine, I just have a habit of getting on the 'not so fit looking' attendants nerves for some reason.
I see you from Manhattan Kansas, Tom (Tomdesk) has recently moved there for what it's worth.
That drive is almost as bad as Dallas to El Paso, uhggg!! what a dreadful boring drive. -
Not as long as Dale's drive but I have to go across Nebraska. The long way!
Leaving this evening about 5:00 pm after a full day of work. Hoping to make Omaha before quitting for the night. My wife and son are coming, too and we're going to spend a few days with some of her distant relatives. She'll dump me at the hotel around 2:00pm on Tuesday.
-
To all that are travelling this weekend, be safe, and see ya in da pub on Tuesday.

Wow. I gotta hand it to you guys. That's a heckuva long way to come. I can just imagine the cost in time and money. I hope for your sakes that the conference will be worth it. I mean. .. what if you get all the way over here and it stinks? I don't think it will but . . .Man oh man!
Its like that last scene in Butch and Sundance. . . allow me to re-create it for you here. . .I got nothin' else going on. . .BUTCH: Australia. . .I figured you secretly wanted to know so I told ya.
SUNDANCE: that's your big idea?
BUTCH: The Latest in a long line. . . .
SUNDANCE: Australia's no better than here!
BUTCH: oh. . that's all you know.More discussion
SUNDANCE: Its long ways off tho' isn't it?
BUTCH: Oh everything's gotta be perfect with you!
SUNDANCE: I just don't want to get all the way down there and find out it stinks. .. .that's all.Yup. .. it's a good thing I am only comin' over from Salt Lake. . . .
-
David, trust me there is no way it can stink, as the whole point of BC is meeting everyone and networking, everything else can be a distraction some times. That's probably why it is UN-conference as a rigid schedule like last time can get boring really quick.
Then there is the evenings (say no more) -
very true Pete. ..
But admit it. . .you liked the movie reference right?
