[Q] Is there a spiral along path ruby?
-
Easy now Susy, before getting yer nickers in a twist (or spiral) understand what I need.
I need to be able to spiral or twist a ribbon around many shapes, some bends are 15%, 45% some are 90%, I need it to be precise, so bending may not work, I also need it to be continuous, so one bend at a time and joining will also not do.
Oh, I'm a moderator on the forum and not the teacher/guru (there is lot's I do not know), I help where I can, and keep it clean from spammers and trolls.
Like many users I download and use only the plug ins that I need, when I need them, they sometimes only get used once or twice as I need them and more than often after a while I forget about them and have to try and remember what they are called in order to find them in my shopping list drop down menu.In an instance like this plug-in question, I have never needed this before and know there have been many spiral and twist plug-ins, that's why I asked the question, if I knew for a fact that one did not exist I'd make a request, similarly if I knew it did exist I would not ask.

[i still have no clue about what you're needing to draw]

Deep breathing Pete; concentrate on the patterns....
Think the night before Basecamp. Lots of and and few and ....

Okay...
It's an LED light ribbon that needs to twist in the shape of a company name, the writing is cursive and will be the center piece of it's exhibit display, I cannot discuss more details as I have the usual non disclosure contract.
The problem is I need to match their font precisely, so doing bend for bend will not work. -
I was hoping to bring in a DWG file with the name, weld it and hit 'follow me with a twist' button and viola!! done.

ok...

i was drawing this while you replied (which is what d12dozr was saying) but i think it might actually be what you're talking about except you'd like the orange ribbon to be a much tighter spin and it wraps around letters?.. if so, i don't think there's a one click method for that..
-
i'm sorta sure this isn't what you're after but i got stuck on the idea of it and had to figure it out.. let's hope this isn't what you're trying to draw -or- someone has an easier/faster method than mine.. this took over an hour

...you got too much time on your hands then Jeff.
nice though.

What does Component Stringer do? -
Here's the Down and Dirty tutorial..
component stringer will repeat a component along a path.. you can also set it to rotate that component along the path.
-
no fredoscale..
BezierSpline (v1.4)
Component Stringer
Follow Me(+ a few others.. see tutorial a couple posts down)

Thanks again! Now I'm off to get some sleep...

Although not is it what the moderator need for its joboh yeah, didn't think of that before.. i'm assuming you used shapebender..
but hey, you used my L ..
that's the hardest part -
Hi Solo,
Is that what you want to do? I used in this example GROW and CURVILOFT. With GROW you can manipulate almost all parameters. Other options are the diameter of the circle and the angle of the edge. The process is very easy.

GROW and CURVILOFT are a good combination for many profile designs.
