Could any of the future basecampers show this to the SU team? -
I agree - wow! The original sketchup was sold on a little animated GIF demonstrating a time lapse model being created, similar to this.

Nice video, why not just get Zbrush?
SU is a long way off from this... -
It's clear that Zbrush lays in the completly diffrent niche
I'm talking about being innovative. The last time Skechup amazed me was many years ago.
Except an amateurs plugins the programm development is in adeep stagnation IMO -

I dont see version 8 being much of an improvement over what we already have. The upgrade from v6 to v7 was pretty poor.

I kind of see what the OP was getting at, but I really hope google doesn't take any cues from Pixologic/Zbrush:
Include loads of features that demo really well, but are more or less useless in practice
Have a tricky, unfamiliar UI for no good reason
Consistently miss promised release dates
Add new features before fixing existing bugs (oh, hang on...)I know I'm just software bashing here, and I do actually like (and use) some features of Zbrush. But other than 'Google should do something new and impressive with SketchUp', I'm not sure what they could really learn.

Now this is something Google will never do (as they never announce a release date)
