3D Basecamp 2010!!!!!

I spent a night in New York. I tried to sleep in the bus terminal, but they kick everyone out if you don't have a valid ticket. So I literally wandered the streets near Broadway ALL NIGHT. It was quite pleasant. Plenty of food shops open all night long. I just hopped back and forth ordering sodas and hot dogs
And of your list of places, I would also recommend New York. I think Vegas might be more fun with friends. Chicago is a big city, but I think you should do New York over Chicago. It is quite a city!

BTW . .. I prefer Chicago over NYC.

Ive already decided on new york I get basically 2 days there im going to spend one day around the city then head back to the airport to sleep then next day spend another day in the city and then my flight back home is that night, not bad cant complain really and no point getting a hotel in NY too much hassle and couldn't justify spending that money considering im still a student bum used to slumming it all the time lol. If I wasnt bringing my laptop with me and didnt have a case would loved to just hit a nightclub and get on the red bull all night to power me through the next day then KO on the plane home, maybe if they have some sort of locker system in JFK then I will do this!!
-
When I was in NY I spent 4 nights in a (Hungarian) Franciscan monastery (don't think of a "real" monastery building - it was just a regular block).
But I also did what Chris another time; wandering up and down in the streets all alone myself overnight.

I don't think anybody has lockers in airports and depots anymore . . .not since 9-11
-
what no lockers lol, where will all the spooks make shady exchanges? damn american movies getting my hopes up. Well if im walking around with my case will I be allowed into museums and other attractions in NYC?
-
Mail your case home from Boulder.
-
I remember using lockers in the main bus terminal near times square. They won't take a large case but would take the smaller carry on cases. That was in 2003. They could be gone now?
Anyway, I don't plan on bringing much to boulder except a few essentials. The rest I'll acquire out there. Hate checking and waiting for luggage. But with Mayor Lucey in tow I may have to wait anyway!
If anyone is there on Monday night and wants to meet up let me know I'll be doing the touristy stuff for Monday and Tuesday afternoon but the nights are 'unconferenced'

Yeah, where will we all keep our suitcases full of cash. . .and our 12 different passports.

Right got all my flights booked, paid and confirmed!
Ill be in boulder about 7pm monday night so if anybody will be around then let me know Ill be longing for a pint after sitting on a tiny chair for 12 hours!! -
I can recommend the Gershwin Hotel in NY http://www.gershwinhotel.com/. It has 4- and 8-bunk rooms on a first-come-first serve basis, catering to international budget travelers and all other cheap people. The private rooms can be reserved. The men's and co-ed rooms are a bit messy, but the price is right (~$20 just over 10 years ago.) Its located centrally, close to the Empire State Building. It also has a 13th floor. I always got a kick out of trying to read the non-English labels of the toiletries others left behind.
There's a hostel in Boulder http://boulderinternationalhostel.com/ with very attractive rates. Anyone can stay. It's located about 7 football fields from the basecamp among the university fraternities. The AB bus from Denver airport stops 2 block away. The bus cost $12 and reportedly runs more often than the super shuttle.

I'm booked for the Best Western Golden Bluff Lodge. See you all there.
I like the idea of SketchUcation members using their nicknames for the event--especially the admins. In fact, can we just call you all by your board names?

Did anyone get an email today or even earlier asking to fill in a Google Doc Form with arrival times etc...?
10am start for Registration on the 1st. Will Solo's party have finished by then?
-
Yep, just did receive it.
-
Just got that e-mail and filled out the form.
Good question about Solo's party. It'll be interesting to see who drags in looking like something a cat coughed up.
-
Solo's party? no, just a few beers to get to know one another before event.
Csaba, Mike and myself will be perfectly behaved hosts
-
Yup, I have justreceived the email myself, too. There is already one program point - breakfast at the Dairy Center (I dunno about these dairy products the morning after tho - maybe I will really look like Mr. Green )
-
Nothing to do with milk anymore. An old dairy plant converted to an arts center. By the way, plenty of good places around town for those looking for good breakfast before Thursday's and Friday's BaseCamp.
What I thought was funny about the agenda. Is that we move from Breakfast/registration, right into lunch. Will be some full belly's when the keynote starts at 1pm.
-
That is unless breakfast consists of a "waaffer thin mint".
