What's worse about that 2nd pic is that tape is referred to as speed tape!

The most used tool in aircraft maintenance

There's really nothing wrong with using that tape as they did there. That's what it is made for. It's people who don't know about legitimate methods of airframe repair who blow photos like that out of proportion. That photo shows the flaps extended. Most of that tape wouldn't be exposed during most of the flight anyway.

Umm, where's the 'wit'? I think he was being serious. What is the problem with using duct tape to cover something up on a plane wing. Maybe it was only temporary?

Did you know there are planes whose entire outer surface is a cotton material? Duct tape might actually be stronger than the shell material ๐Ÿ˜„

While agree there is probably a better fix than the duct tape, duct tape was developed during WWII for fixing ammo cases, jeeps, and yes, airplanes. Even NASA has used it in outerspace. So maybe using a little patch on the wing of plane is not that bad.

Yep - Seems duct tape actually DOES have a wide variety of uses. I have a roll in my car - well just incase.

I was being serious about the high speed tape. It's actually not duct tape. There are also tapes that are applied to the leading edges of helicopter rotor blades, leading edges of jet fighter's wings and their nose cones to prevent abrasion when working in sandy or dusty conditions

I am sure it's fine . . . it just looks a little disconcerting in both pics -- on the airplane wing and on the . . .ahem. . you know.. . .the madmoiselle. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

No worries, GF. I get forwarded e-mails all the time with images like that; the airplane wing, that is and remarks about how some airline is duct taping their airplanes to fix them. Problem is, the people who start those e-mails have no clue.

Now, the duct tape bathing suit. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ Makes my eyes water to think about removing it.

Too actually add to Dave's response, high speed tape is only a temporary measure normally applied between heavier maintenance checks. The reason it's used is in the posted pic is because those steel strips on the flaps were probably disbonding. I fix these heaps of crap for a living ๐Ÿ˜ž

Well I for one was one of those who had no clue about speed tape. I learned something today ๐Ÿ‘

This one is not so much funny but more of an illusion. Turn the picture upside right side up and the illusion is lost.

                                  GARLIC WARNING!!

For years Doctors and scientists have told us that some foods are good for us only to be told later that they are bad for us, and again they tell us that some foods are bad for us, and all the time they've been good for us and there doesn't seem to be much proof either way to suggest what is good or bad...until now that is.
Garlic is definitely BAD for us "You Are What You Eat"
