"use sun for shading"
-
This has to be an obvious question, but I can't seem to figure it out.
What does the "use sun for shading" option in the shadow settings box do?
-
Shades faces basically
-
Without it, SU uses a default method of shading faces. Notice that faces are shaded in SU. White faces on a cube will have some faces slightly darker than others. This is shading. Turning that setting on will make it so SU uses the sun system to shade the faces of the model. So it is possible to still have the same shading on the faces but NOT actually have them cast shadows.
Hope that makes some sense,
Chris

Thanks, Chris and rclub24. That makes sense.

lso worth mentioning that "Hidden line" face style will not be shaded (when sun is turned off). This is good to know when you need to export some 2d thing for post-precessing (like creating alpha masks and such).
Also it does not use the default material but the beckground colour.
