Guys I do not understand this as "Newly registered members" are supposed to access all attachments. I did double check all these permissions (and know that some people can download these plugins with no problem at all).
-
hmmmmm interesting
well this should take care of it -
Intersting, I had also thought it was set so that any registered member could download. At any rate, he's reached the 2 post threshold so he is now set either way.

thanks for the tips!

A list of GIF images we use on the Tutorial pages. Coen made them a while back and I thought sometimes they can be handy to insert into help posts especially here, in the newbie forum.

The exporters are the only difference between the free and pro versions.
And the ability to create dynamic components, which alone was reason enough for me to go through the considerable hassle of getting a higher ed license for pro.

don't forget Layout and Style builder which only come with Pro, and the ability to choose some other (higher) resolution for your JPG-output than "View Size". Does come in handy for printing stuff!
-
Martha, it was only in version 5 when you could only export screen resolution with SU Free. Now (theoretically) you can go up to 9999 pixels (and even higher on the Mac).
True however that all the printing (e.g. to scale) havoc can be easily and nicely solved in LO (thus it is in the professional package) although strictly speaking it is not "part" of SU but an additional tool.
-
Well, I'm certain it was version 6, since I've never used 5, but have had to deal with max resolution for jpgs. But I've been using pro now for a while and must admit I'm not very up-to-date on the limitations of the current free version
-
Well, I used the free 5 then the free 6 for a while and only then went to pro but I remember when first encountering version 7, I first installed the free version just to see what it can do and only then I installed the pro version.
Anyway, what can be said is that the two programs are exactly the same and what difference can be found are only done by plugins (DC's are also plugins) and other addons like exporters/importers.
This theoretical concept will probably allow the developers a bit bigger freedom as they do not need to maintain two, different versions of the core application itself.

So I'm fairly new to this program and the virtual 3D world in general. I get a little lost when someone explains something and uses one or more words that are specific to the program or 3D programs in general. I know this would be a chore for one person to do but perhaps a thread of such words and their definitions could later be organized alphabetically which can be updated quarterly or something as the thread grows. Just a thought.

A Glossary of terms is already well under way on the official site.

Has anyone else found that the audio on the Sketchup for Dummies tutorials is barely audible? Aiden Chopra also mumbles which makes it impossible to understand anything.

I haven't had any problem with the audio on those videos at all. I find Aidan to be very understandable and there's no problem with the volume. Perhaps it's the volume settings on your computer?

Hi
I am new to the forum and looking for help and tips from anyone who has the time to show me a few things.
I am currently trying to create a smooth animation and better rendering but also any plug in advice. I have been attacking tutorials like mad but there are parts of my tool pallet that are lacking that I can't get the icons for when I install the plugins. Seeing lots of screen grabs with all sorts of tools I would love to have but don't know what they are!
Hope you can help

As ever, I learn so much here. However, I still have difficulty, when I've found a useful thread - to find it a second time. I'm making a note of titles etc. & have tried typing the viewtopic codes in... but still haven't found an obvious route. Is there something I'm missing & is there a way to save a record of thread titles?
