Couldn't you simply use the stamp too (of the sandbox) to lower that area?

        Hi Gaieus,

        Thanks for your reply.

Try Thomtoms 'cleanup' ruby, it may take a few minutes to run but it will clean up the model enough to be able to push and pull faces in order for you to edit model.

              Hey,

Gaieus - I selected the stamp tool and clicked on the area I wanted to lower and it just froze up

Solo - thanks for the suggestion. I used that script but I still couldn't make any amendments.

Why does nothing work for me?! 😒

If parts are groups edit the group and work on that geometry.
Draw some additional lines across faces if you want to remove/move stuff.
You could also copy/paste these in from another ''line drawing if appropriate...
Work with view > hidden geometry 'on' in case there are any 'surfaces'.
You can use the erase tool to erase edges and some faces will go with them - you can always remake a face if needed.
You can also pushpull faces down to the water-level if appropriate etc
Once you have removed the bits you don't want, tidy any unneeded edges and start making new geometry or moving things.
You seen to be making it more difficult than it should be ?Capture.PNG

                    Hi TIG,

                    Thanks for your response.

I can't make any changes like that to the model. For example all the road seems to be one face and when I draw a line to split it, nothing happens 😞

I have the 3ds model and SU model but both are quite large

If things are grouped [or inside a component-instance] you must double-click on them to edit within their 'context' - or explode them together into one group of geometry, or even into the model itself.
Sometimes objects are grouped inside groups etc and you need to 'drill' into them by editing, editing... etc...
You then draw the new splitting lines in that 'base' level edit session...
If some things are 'locked' you can unlock them using the 'Entity Info' dialog - then you can explode/edit/etc...
Also run 'Model Info' > 'Statistics' > 'Purge Unused' and then 'Fix Problems' in case anything is tangled in the database...
You can ALWAYS change, erase or add to geometry etc IF you have unlocked and switched on [View >] 'Hidden Geometry' and all 'Layers', AND also use edit down through grouped [or instances] to the 'raw' geometry level... πŸ€“

I'm probably not explaining my problems clearly or correctly! 😳

I've put the model here http://www.mediafire.com/?gdomwnzluun (warning it is 50mb) so you can have a look

Thanks in advance for your help

Like the other file you published you have Scaled it after import - set it's units right as you import [under options ?].
Making the group into a component [right-click menu] and then 'scaling definition' might help... BUT getting it right initially is best. πŸ˜’

                              Hi TIG,

                              Thanks for your reply.

I had to scale it afterwards as I don't think it was drawn right when it was done in Max (I didn't create it)

Will this scale definition enable me then to edit the model?
