Desert Eagle
-
Hi I don't usually post here much but I thought I may as well get some feedback before I upload this. I have been spending the past 2 days working on my first desert eagle pistol. It is 1mb in size and has just under 1300 polys. Here are the pics, feedback is appreciated.

Ok, Nice modeling, but weapons for me so...

K i'm gonna guess from the lack of relies that that is how everyone feels so i'm sorry

Hi Hobbnob,
I agree with Fymoro that the model is a nice start and will develope more. Maybe post a pic with hidden geometry on? It also looks like there is some work needed where the trigger guard meets the handle?
Have you tried competing in Remus's 30min Challenges or Solo's Model This thread? Members are quick to post mini tutorials and offer advice. Just a suggestion!

Thanks for the feedback. Those contests sound good, but where are they? I've seen the speed modelling contest on the announcements bit, but not the model this contest, is that somewhere else or am i just not seeing it?

Hi,
Solo (one of the mods) post a challenge every now and again but here's what the past challenges have been.
What did you use to model the gun? Plans or photos?
-
Nice work on the gun. I would also like to see the mesh.
-
And maybe turn off the shadows, because I can't appreciate the model.

Hi there, hobbnob
Well, your model doesn´t look bad at all. However, the trigger could use some smoothing on its back side. Also, there is some work left to do on the trigger guard ( as rclub24 has already suggested ) as well as on that whatever-its-name-is part just under the hammer - it is not actually that spiky.
I cannot really tell from the picture, but are those "ribs" on the slide made with textures ? Cos if they are, it would be better to carve them into geometry IMO.
All in all, nice work! -
Thanks for the feedback everybody, i'm working on getting it fixed atm. For now, here are a couple more pics:
And with hidden geometry:
And now a couple of renders:

UPDATE: I've done all that my current skill set will allow, so i'm sending it off to a mate for him to put the finishing touches on it, then it can be uploaded. It was modelled from pictures, not plans btw.
