      Hi all,

So I NORMALLY save my files regularly. I have autosave set for every ten minutes. However, in my sleep-deprived state, I managed to say "no" to "do you want to save changes" (!!!!!) right after finishing some time-consuming and rather tricky work. PLEASE HELP if you can. Does anyone know where to find the auto-save files? Will I be able to get my changes back by opening one of those and resaving? Any ideas would be helpful. Google just tells me the Autosave is in my My Documents folder, but I'm not finding it (maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

Please help if you can--I'm on a tight deadline. Boo to being stupid. ARGH.

The AutoSave file is kept with the model.skp but is removed if you exit normally - it's only left behind if SUp crashes...
There might be a backup made with the suffix 'skb' - but you have to have that set as a preference.
This 'skb' file is the last saved version of the skp file.
It lives in the same folder as the skp file.
IF you have one it should be easy to find...
Rename it with .skp rather than .skb and change its main name a bit too so as not to clash with the main skp.
You'll then have the last saved version before you made the more recent changes ?
        Good luck πŸ˜’

.Skb adds to the clutter of files in my drive directory, but has saved my toosh many times:-) My auto save is set to 5 min.

I disabled autosave as it slows you down and can cause crashes if it saves while doing an intensive process.

Get disciplined to save before any major edit/process manually.

If you are really disciplined there's my Archiver.rb that saves the model exactly as it is at that instant with a date+time stamp in an Archives folder with the model - that way you can backup the model at each key 'branching' of the model's design and revert as needed. There's even an Options option that lets you save options of the model and work on them separately too...

All a bit much if you just lost hours of work........... BUT then remember to save, save, save... 😎

Well, guess that explains some of my crashes. Don't mind slowing down, my models are too small. But losing data can be a problem. Any idea what causes the crashes? Will cache size or another drive help?

Thanks. I can't seem to find a .skb that has my changes, but c'est la vie. Lesson learned.
