3D Button

Hi everyone
I was just wondering if it is possible to design a 3D button say about 2" in dia. i have attached a pic of a sample, say on this button i want to bring up the threads of the ball and supper impose the lettering on top of that. Has anyone ever did something like that if so please help me out to understand the steps needed to do this.
Thanks all

Well, here is a quick 1-2-3 4 you! (pardon the pun)
- make a 2" circle using the and project your picture on to it
- use your handy to go over ALL the threads, and use the to add your lettering. Make sure to change your font!
- use to extrude the whole this(what you want) to your desired hight
Tell me how this works!

You are intending to do a lot of work on a tiny object - SUp [or its base = OpenGL] doesn't like very small faces so you might find that small parts don't work as expected. SUp is based on architecture where things are expected to have a certain range of dimensions and small fractions of a mm fall outside of this...
The work around for this known limitation is to work at a larger size [and then scale down later] e.g. work in meters - if you have Units set so as not to display the suffix then you don't know whether or not it's inches anyway. When you are done you can scale the stuff back down to a required size - luckily small stuff scales OK once it's made... To do that use the tapemeasure tool and pick two points on the diameter that you want to =2", but which have made 2[m] temporarily] and type in 2" - you're asked if you want to scale the model, say 'Yes'... and now everything is changed back to the size required - change your Units to Inches to confirm the size is now as desired...
