At work I do renders such as those shown

I would like to improve these, perhaps using more realistic skys and backgrounds and any other tips you feel I would benefit from.

Currently I use _bump tool for grass tiles etc and I render in podium after playing around with light.

So what advice have you got? Thanks for any help.

In your first render, see the pink background behind the trees, not sure how podium renders background images, but you can go on line and find a photo with bushes and sky that SU can placed in that location (see win \ styles \ edit and add a watermark). The attached example isn't a great model but it shows the idea. The sky and all trees are a photo above the models horizon. When you select a background to include, experiment with the image by blur, and brightness for starters. It is seldom that an original image is ideally suited for the final image.

In addition add some 3d foreground landscape in front of your model. I do not have a example for you.

        Example of rendered SU watermark

It never gets as bad in paradise as it could be anywhere else on the planet:-)

The process shouldn't be any different on a Mac, just find any background image on the net, and follow the process to add a watermark in SU. Go to the SU menu and select the submenus as above. The first time is the hardest. As we say here, Mahalo.

A few really basic tips are, add detail. For example the second image. Should it have a gutter and rain water pipe? Ridge tiles?
Materials make all the difference. Collect a good set and things should start to improve. Spend time using the right material and ensure things like wood grain are running the correct way.

You also need to look at using something like Photoshop or Gimp once you have rendered your image. All the good posted rendered images on this site will probably have had some sort of work afterwards.

Andy can you post one of the models such as the first one?

Just thinking it may be an idea for some of the members to have a go at rendering it and you can ask how they achieve their results.

P.s, love the building in the first image. I would be one happy guy with that as my office in a nice garden.

Hi I tried to upload a SKP/ZIP file but they would not load. What is the upload limit. We have a few buildings as per the top image around Cambridge as we are based over in Sandy, Bedfordshire. They are often used as office spaces. You been down the Royston caves recently?

As far as I remember, the upload limit is 4 Mb.

                      Hi Andy,

No I have never even been down the Royston cave, although I did only move here last April so I have a good excuse πŸ˜„

I would be surprised if that model was more than 4mb. It may be worth purging to see if the file size comes down.
