Looks like you've outlived your user name! Good work.

I can't find such forum [woodworking] on sketchucation. Can you give me a link?
See the board index, far right, at the bottom of every topic.

Uff, "soon" didn't meant after 2-3 weeks. Sorry for that. I'm still working on it. Unfortunately I have little time to work on it. But it will! Live your life in that time.
Since now I re-made id from scratch for three times. And the hard part is that I'm learning programming in this time, because I don't have any experience. So, sorry again. This thread was intended to collect some ideas that will help to guide this plugin in right direction.

Thanks for this script, but it is not so practical - groups with strange names, BOM is messy and etc. Since introduction of the FredoScale plugin the kitchen design is very easy - just make all the models and modules and then drag and drop or stretch where needed and export with CutList! This way you can put the banding info and all the hardware. And you have all the models ready for the clients to choose from!

Hello Draftsman
The FredoScale plugin is really great. I take my hat off. Congratulations.
First, I must deepen my knowledge of Ruby and English and look at it more closely, but I think it is the same idea behind it.
An other idea was, my plugins open expose in the network and so suspend for the "Internet User evolution".Yet another way to enlightenment:

Hello it's me again
A silly question: where can I look more closely the plugin (download)?
Can someone send me an address?
Or have I misunderstood something?

NewOne, I just PM'd you some ideas; let me know what you think....

Just wanted to say that this plugin will be genius. Not to pressure you too much, but what sort of schedule do you have for release? Before January or later? I like to use Sketchup and find it's getting more powerful everyday, yet keeping a level of simplicity. I would rather not start using a stand-alone package for cabinet design and prefer something like what you are making.

In the first place I planned to finish it in December, but as I got stuck with something, I think February will be.

The plug-in is user friendly, great work! I understand things are keeping you busy that is why the release is not yet official. I hope you can settle everything by now because many cabinet enthusiast can't wait to use your plug-ins fully. Patio Furniture

I'm asking now for some help, especially in JS programming. If someone wants to help me with this, please contact me. As the current problem will be solved, I will be able to release first version of the plugin. I think this can be a matter of days if I will get some help from a high skilled programmer.
Please send PM if interested.Thank you.

I wish I could help, NewOne. I now nothing about programming. I do look forward to your first release though!!!!

What do you need? Todd

How are you going with this, NewOne? Any advance?

Hi NewOne
Big project you´re on.
About cutting optimization. Have you tried swiftopt or bestopt? They seem quite reasonably prized. Maybe a collaboration is possible.
If you do parametric cabinet design then it should be easy to export the cutlist in almost any format that you need. This would be almost independent from the drawing. We have a CNC machine program that does about that: It produces a partlist and the programes for each part automatically. I could send you the excel equivalent only i need to translate it. Tell me, if you ant it.
We have implemented several standards that don´t make so much difference on how the cabinet looks like, but on how it is produced. E.g. are there dozens of posibilities on how to adjust a cabinet in height. Or only think of jointers... Maybe this is not so important for a mere drawing of the boards and how the cabinet looks like as a presentation for clients etc. But still there are countless variations.
I think it would be very difficult to match all types of cabinets everywhere. So maybe start something simple and try to expand it later? Or is there a chance of designing a rather simple tool that imports parts from a csv to SU. You could calculate e.g. in excel or a mysql database and everyone could adapt that to his design. I think the more difficult part would be to define the position of each board in reference to the adjacent ones. But in this manner everyone could easily program their own cabinet and we could get a whole gallery of simple csv sheets or what ever and put them into your program. Its a bit like dc but I found dc as a interface two clumsy to handle for such a complex thing as cabinets.
Then you could add legs as dcs or from a gallery and the same with doors. Or try the same thing as before and divide the complexity in several single programs.
Maybe contrary to what you have done already.
