I need a split face CMU texture for a small project. If anyone has one, or can point me in the right direction to look, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks

I am assuming you have checked in cgtextures.com?

EDIT: I just did a quick check and keyword search, and did not see that specific texture.
What is the process to create one?

EDIT again: See this thread: http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=26092#p224838. I did not have time to look. May be something there for you.

Yes I did check out the CG site. Looked promising but the links are broken. I would make a texture if I could get a good high res image, but most images I have found aren't suitable. I'll keep looking.

            hey dale
check out Acme Brick Masonry Designer program (free). It allows you to chose brick/cmu patterns and even create mixes of cmu/brick patterns. Hope that helps.

What would be acceptable resolution? Would this degrade in the process of creating the texture?

With a texture like this, it should be fairly easy to tile, because of its repetition, and the fact you could seam on a mortar line.
Even though I use photoshop, I still prefer as face on an image as I can get, with as large a sample as possible of the material.
No you shouldn't get degrading, particularly if you work in png format, even if you want to end up as a jpeg.
I'm not a real expert on this, and I know there is a lot of software out there now that makes creating tileable textures really simple, but I have found most of them to be PC based, and mostly I work on a mac.
                  There is a great tutorial @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjB7lYXqYFE.

Belden Brick also has a free "online" tool for bricks & another for pavers. Works great with lots of mortar options. Wish I could find the same for floor & wall tiles!

Here's another one. It's seamless. Diffuse, normal and specular maps. If you need higher resolution just tell me 😄

Thank you. That resolution will work great, and the mapping is perfect. 👍
