Bump map yes, diffuse map no
-
Picture this, if you will: I got a plane and I'd like to slap a material on it. But: I do not want to use a diffuse map. In any case, I don't want one showing in the render. What I want to see, is color + bump. You know, just a nice blue or grey with some scatches or something.
How do I go about this?

Stinkie, is this what you're looking for?

Yes, you'd have to do what Mike suggest. Or make a bitmap with filled with the colour you want the diffuse to be.
You need a texture in the diffuse layer in order to get UV co-ordinates for your material.
