I'm looking for suggestions on a renderer that would be good for a n00b to learn. Are there any free renderers out there? I'm not looking for architectural photorealistic rendering or anything like that. I'd just like to have some of my smaller simple models look a little nicer than native SU does them.

      Thanks!

For what it's worth you should try as many out as you can to get a feel of the program.

Personally I bought Vray for SU to begin with and found the learning curve difficult so I moved to Twilight. I'm still learning and will definetly go back Vray but Twilight's UI is a pleasure to work with and it's built around the Kerkythea Engine so it's support and developement is growing fast.

There are lots of choices out there so finding one that ticks all the boxes is a personal choice. But from my experience Twilight is extremely affordable and the free version has all the knobs and whistles as the licensed one. Except for limits to resolution output and watermarks.

        Hope this helps

Thanks, Rich. I'll give Twilight a spin and take it from there.
