Template choosing - No OK?
-
Hello everyone!
Here I am a BRAND NEW SketchUp newbie. I have just begun to work my way through my instructional book, and already I seem to have a problem. I am on a Mac and have gone to SketchUp>Preferences>Templates>Product Design etc., but there is no OK on the button at the base of the window after having selected my template of choice. All I have is a "browse" button? I am guessing it is something rather simple that I am not doing, but without some help I am in limbo.
My work is all Photoshop and Illustrator generated - photomontage and image manipulation, so this is my first dive into the realm of 3D, but I need to learn this so that I can do event renderings.
Thank you for any and all help, and so glad to be here!
Cheers! -
This is from my PC:
If you don't have the bottom buttons, something is broken. Fear not.
Window/Model Info/Units. Choose what you will.
Draw something. Anything. Measure it. Zoom in or out so you are looking at the size you want. Orbit around to an orientation you like.
Select all (Option+A, I think) and Delete. (If you have fallen in love with Sang, Window/Components, just over half way down. If having to delete Sang after every File/New annoys you, leave him out.)
File/Save As Template... (No, not Save As..., Save As Template).
Type a name. Press Tab. Set as default template is checked? Good.
Save.File/New (and opening SketchUp) will now load your template.

whichever template you have selected will be the one that opens when you start a new file..
in your case, select the design template (it highlights in blue) then open a new file (⌘N or file->new)...
the chosen template will open every time you launch sketchup or open a new file. -
Hi folks.
On the Mac, there is no OK button. Just choose whatever template you want. If you want one that is not in the Template folder, use the "Browse" button to locate it.
Once the template is choose, simply close the Preferences window.
It is better to quite SU and then reopen it to have it use the newly selected template.
Just ideas.
