Are you a Vista 'administrator'? Try re-running the installer by selecting its icon and 'run-as-administrator' - Vista is a 'pain in the proverbial'!

        Tx for your help.

I tried with run as administrator : same problem.

When I said GS don't start, I have to correct : I get the first screen, with a 3D frame, and a guy in screen.
The instructor window is also opening, but stays empty, and the programm goes on loading instructor content, but loads nothing, and I have to shut the programm, with task manager 😐 .

          Bebert,

I have read that sometimes your problem can be circumvented by opening SU by double-clickinng on a SKP file in Explorer instead of the program icon.

            Hi,
I just installed GS v7. All worked good untill I launch GS.

The program asks me what configuration by default (the first time I launched). I reply millimetres, and after that, GS7 don't start.

I have to shut down the application, with the vista tasks manager, and bye.

            What is wrong.

            I already re-installed, re-DL the application and re-installed.

The first time I launch GS, it asks what what configuration I want, and after that, bye bye.

            Tx 4 your help

            Hello,

I'm one of the authors of the Windows installer, so I'll try to help.

I have not seen this problem before. My guess is that it is not actually a problem with the installer, but a problem with your preferences file. I wonder if deleting your preferences and then re-running will allow you to get past the problem.

When you say, "bye bye", what do you mean? Does SketchUp crash? Do you get a BugSplat? Do you get a pop-up from Windows saying that SketchUp had to close and asking if you want to report the problem? If you provide some additional details, our tech support or QA folks may be able to identify whether your problem has been seen before and if so, possibly how to fix it.

              hmmm, did you fully uninstall?

put this in on the windows explorer, NOT internet explorer. Its the thing you use to look at your files. That top part that looks like an address bar, put this in:

              Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features

Check if you TRULY uninstall SU, you can also try to fix it too! But I'm not too bold about that feature...

Getting the perfect sig is hard...

              Google it!

                and tx 4 your help.

When I launch GS, I have a frame (red green blue), and the instructor window.

The instructor window stays empty, the loading icone turns, and turns, and turns...

A msg in the instructor window : "(Ne répond pas)" in brackets, I have the french version.

So, I have to close with the task manager.

Where is the preferences file ?

                    HI,

Before posting, I checked my HD, about some preferences directory....I just make another research, with the vista search tool.

                    I have 2 preferences files :

                    • a master_preferences (no extension), in \google\chrome\application\
                    • a preferences.htm, in google\google\updater (giving a blank page, if launching)

                    And nothing else 😕

                      Well, I'm out then.

Andrew and the others might be better in this field than I do.

IF you're really desperate you can try to wipe your hard drive and start over 😮

                      KIDDING! 😛

Aren't preferences files a Mac thing? In Windows (since 95), they are all in the Registry...
