The Snowman Thread
-
We just had our first snow of the season here in Pennsylvania. I decided to stay in and build myself a snowman.
In the spirit of the season, feel free to add your own snowman model or render to this thread.

Nice job

Can i ask which render engine you used? Also did you UV map the scarf?

Quick and Dirty

Nice David...sweet vest!
Rich, I used Max and Vray and did apply a UVW Map modifier to the scarf with simple planar projections. If I would've unwrapped it, it would be much better.

Sorry, not a render but a real one I made for my niece on our first snowfall here in Minnesota on Oct 12

We had our first (and probably our only) snow here in Madison Alabama this past weekend. As is tradition, my daughter made 6 or 7 freezer Ziploc bags full of snowballs and put them in the big freeze for summertime. Then it all melted, boo hoo.
I made this guy last year (I think). His name is Mr. Bad Frosty and is a character from the Clayfighter game. It was one of my first Subdivide Experiments.

I must be in the same snow as you Adam.
I started a project Sunday on the top of one of the deleware water gap mountains. It's not too cool when the first thing you see on a jobsite is a lumber pile covered in 8" snow. But hey, at least I'm working inside a heated building

Here in Good Ol' Utah, We're getting about 1 foot now as we speak--that's on the valley floor. Ski resorts will be getting about 4 feet today.

Nothing to do with SU so don't flame me for getting off topic but I thought this was pretty cool, its 1/5th the 'width' of a human hair!!
Quote: 0.01 millimetres across it is only a fifth the width of a typical strand.
Now come on this is cool or what!
Anyway good models everybody, didnt even have snow last year at all in Liverpool lol

Thanks Much. It's just a basic Carpet textile material. Anyway. . .I really like your snow texture. How was that done?

Nice thread. This photo of d12dozr indicates that lot of subsurface scattering (SSS) is needed. Translucency too...
