Windows 7 and vray for su 1.5
-
i want to upgrade my pc to windows 7 (64 bit)
will vray for su 1.5 supports that?
as i am talking 64 bit, will i experience any better performance? -
I run VfSU on Windows7 64bit.
64bit won't improve your performance because VfSU runs inside Sketchup and Sketchup is a 32bit application - so you have the same limiations as before.
To make use of 64bit architecture you need the OS and the software both to be 64bit.

thanks thomthom for ur reply.
i got ur point.
but is su available in 64 bit version? or
are they planning for it?
i googled but got almost nothing. -
No. No plans of 64bit.
From what I've heard from the developers, the concern is that going 64bit might actually make it slower.64bit doesn't automatically mean faster. It makes the app have to handle larger chunks of data - which might slow it down. But the benefit with 64bit is that it can address more RAM.
But having a 64bit system with a nice lump of RAM installed will make it easier to run lots of heavy programs simultaneously.
If you're looking for better rendering improvement; get more CPU power. At my office I collect all old computers as they are replaced and implement them into a renderfarm. They aren't very great computers, but together they help out quite a bit.
And some time ago I was looking up the price to build one from scratch. For the price of one decent hig-end PC you can get a very power PC if you buy a set of all-in-one motherboards (graphicadapter, networkaddapter) and some mid-range quadcore CPUs. Mount them on a rack and install the DR spawners on Linux with Wine.

As long as you ensure that the path to your SU installation is correct there is nothing different. By default the SU installation is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 7
Notice the x86 bit. Maybe the VfSU installer doesn't suggest the correct path by default?
I can't rememeber right now, but ensuring the path is correct should be the only thing you need.
