Place a background plane for rendering (even photomatch)
-
How to precisely place a background (even photomatch ones) on a plane perpendicular to the camera, for rendering with any software. You'll need Tomasz Marek's "Bring My View Back" plugin, available here: http://www.tomaszmarek.eu/sketchup_1.html
-------------EDIT-----------
The video is narrated in Spanish but it also has subtitles in English & French (by Pilou).
To change the language of the subtitles, hover your mouse (don't click) over the triangle pointing up, and then hover again (don't click) over the rectangle saying "CC". Then click on your desired language. To turn them on/off, just click where it says "CC".

If you want to contribute a subtitle translation, just edit this simple text file and leave a reply here or send me a PM so I can add them to the Youtube video (with credit to you in the video info, of course). So far it has Spanish & Broken English subtitles.
English.txtThanks to Tomasz for his generosity and for making a change to his plug-in that made this process easier. And to Gaieus for the "Sizer" tip.

Thank you, Pilou! You can see the new subtitles by hovering the upward arrow, then hovering the CC button and finally clicking on a language.
Check the video info, too :

Great trick Miguel. Thank you so much for sharing!

Perfect multi-language production!
Works like a charm! -
?is there a way to hear this in english, or can you just read along the text file.

Well, there are several reasons why I decided to record the video in Spanish and then add subtitles in other languages:
-
My spoken English is not that good, as you can infer from my pronunciation of some words.
-
My installation of SketchUp 6 in Spanish is clutter-free (because I only use SU7 in English ) and thus more suitable for recording tutorials.
-
I tried first recording the video and then recording the audio, but I found it hard to do as I kept forgetting the sequence of steps, so I decided to record both simultaneously. This means there are some unavoidable errors, redundancies and omissions in the live Spanish narration, but the English subtitles can be written more carefully.
Of course, having multiple audio tracks, one for each language, would be the ultimate cool in online video. Unfortunately, I haven't found any video hosting service that has this feature. I think I'll just wait until YouTube implements it and then I'll give you a call so you can record the English track.

ok, but how can i see the subtitles?
-
I just updated the first post with instructions. Let me know if this helps, if not, perhaps the video player is being rendered differently in other browsers; I'm using Chrome.
EDIT: I just made a tiny change to the video embed code to see if this forces English subtitles to appear.
