Sketchup challange #1
-
Hi
I have just created a website (google group site) what will have a challange for you to attempet and enter each week.
They are fearly good chalanges.
I would also like to know what you think the next challange should be!

A spelling bee?
-
Have a look at the site. It tells you what the challange is and so does this topics name!
-
@ Chris.
-
Can we please stick to the topic?

A descent entry area
Does this mean there needs to be a step down when you come through the entry door? That doesn't seem like a good thing for universal design.
-
Oliver, you have stumbled upon a very persnickety bunch of professionals, I guess you really should introduce yourself, explain your mission and use spell check before attempting to lure attention to your quest.
Welcome to SCF by the way.
-
Sorry, decent is what I ment. Il go and edit it so it is correct.
Also please tell me if you have joined the challenge.
Ps. I'm on
an iPod so I can hardly spell check at all. -

Really.
well you have learnt something new today.
I actually think the task is a good one as other sites ask you to build whole ships in a month and with my task you have a week.
I am also doing this task myself and have basically completed it in 1 day.
I also have a thew things you can download from the warehouse (Walls of exact measurement what help you out).
I just got chrome what has a built in spell check so i will go with that.
And...
...IT IS CALLED A CHALLENGE
-
ok... I have extended it to a month so it is more easier for you all.
-
I know have decided to use wiki spaces instead of google groups.
here is the address.

Hi Ollywally,
Welcome to SCF, glad to see you've set the bar so high!
Any chance you could give us a bit of background about yourself? I'd like to know how go about your elimination process?
I hope it's not like 'Takeshi's Castle'

I think I can offer the answer for that
Sorry for being bad, but as I see, our honorable frient olliewollie wants a house idea/project and what's the best and effortless way to get one, but to ask people to a "challenge" ?
Sorry olliewollie, I don't mean to offend you. It's just my point of view. I'll be glad to join your challenge, but to a more accessible one. -
Looks like a moving target based on those rules.
Ollie, why don't you show us some of your work? That'll give us some ideas. As Rich wrote, give us a little of your background.

Yes I agree that this is the right approach but you must not dumb down the term "professional" by using that word. SCF should strive for standards achieved in modeling* to be applied to all its activities. Mike Lucey might like to give guidance in this respect.
Sincerely
Chris
Edit: * and coding

Hi, Oliver, welcome to the SCF!
If you need inspiration to start your design assignment you can just go to http://www.coolhouseplans.com and use the search function.
If you haven't already, I highly recommend watching the SketchUp introductory videos. Even if you have used SU for months or years, there might be a few useful tricks to learn:
http://sketchup.google.com/training/videos/new_to_gsu.htmlFor creation of walls in SketchUp, the very best tool is Smustard's Profile Builder:
http://www.smustard.com/script/ProfileBuilderFor Windows, use Windowizer 4:
