Sketchup render

One way to make sure you don't have ugly, thick lines (although others may think differently) is to turn off profiles in the edge settings in the Styles dialog.
Now, when exporting an image, always export in a (much) larger r4esolution than your final need (at least twice as large) and when done, resize/resample the image in an editor.
This also gives you the chance NOT to use SU's antialias function (ugly anyway) but do antialiasing while resampling.
You'll end up with really nice images. Keep experimenting until you find it nice.
The irst image is very interesting, too, and I bet that it was put together from two exports. Also I'm not sure if it's not a LayOut export

I'm sure there's some post processing involved in both of those images but as to what was used for that, it would be difficult to say.
As to the edge thickness when exporting, there are two things to look at. First, do you have Profiles checked? The other is at what resolution are you exporting your images? Increase the resolution and the lines will appear thinner.
-
I'd also guess that at least the first image was (maybe) even processed in some kind of renderer first. There are nice, soft shadows on the building (while only the ones they're casting on the ground seem to be very sharp)

That first image surely is a fantistic looking one!

It certainly is. Good modeling, too!
sketchup_fan, where'd you get that one?
-
The first image is definitely a post-processed overlay of SU high-res export over a photorealistic rendered image, I'm guessing rendered in V-Ray for SU.
Gaieus' description in his first post describes the process of getting high-res images out of SU perfectly.

I really like the first image a lot, works very well.
That model would look brilliant as a Vue render.

Thank you all guys, for giving me opinions on how to improve the sketchup renders, i'll try them out and see what happens.
stinkie :
Yes, i agree with you the first image is great, i found it in a quick search in imageshack uploaded pictures. -
Guys, thank you soo... much for helping me, it worked!!! You've made me the happiest man on earth, cause i was trying to find how to render with sketchup for a long time. You will see what i've made with your help in the gallery forum.

Cool.
So as we are over this issue and it turned out to be rather SU related, I hope you don't mind if I move it to the SU Forum.
-
No of course not, i don't mind. Move it everywhere you like.
