Where did the "ding" come from?
-
All of a sudden I've started getting a "ding" sound when I click on an object. It's not an option in "Preferences" so I don't know what could have turned this "feature" on. Anyone have a clue?

Do you have housebuilder ruby installed, if so that's it. Somewhere on this forum were some lines of code to fix it.

If you struggle with finding what plugin makes the soundd, do a file search for any file that contians UI::Beep or UI.Beep

Urrrgggggh
Don't have housebuilder and did a search for UI::BEEP and UI.BEEP with no success (thanks anyway Thomas).
I am loath to go through 67 plugins so I guess I'll just mute my MacPro: strange, though, I don't get the beep at home on my iMac (guess I should do a comparison of plugins).

There was another plugin recently that was found to make the ding. Maybe it was the scroll metalwork one? Whichever script it was, the author quickly published an updated version without the ding.

Dear Bob,
This might be the problem:

I think the last two posts are relevant.

Regards,
BobI'm hoping that's the solution because I have that plugin at work but not here at home. However I did do the search for UI.BEEP and nothing showed up. Does spotlight search the interior of plugins?
Many thanks Chris and Bob

Spotlight is a really poor searcher, try Easy Find...it's Free!:
