I though the idea was to have a single post at the top with all renderers. As someone wants to add a new one, it gets PM'ed to a Admin who then adds it to the list. Then there would not be a zillion posts like this underneath. Just a nice clean list. It doesn't have to be that way, its just what I was envisioning based on Coen's original post.

Ah, I see. Well, in any case, the first post is constantly updated (like now I did).

What is the best render to use in OS X?
Just recently convertet to OS X and don't want to switch over to XP to use V-Ray all the time I want to render something...
So what render is best for me? I am looking for something as good as V-Ray and not to difficult to use.

Thanks in advance for the replies...

              Hei Henrik,

Unfortunately there isn't many render applications available for Mac...
But from the list available for OS X, I obviously would recommend Kerkythea ... πŸ˜‰

You should also add the Thea Render homepage and Thea Render Forum ... πŸ˜‰

i would not venture to state which one is the best (what is best for me is not necessarily best for you), but the following apps definitely run on mac os x:
                    cheetah
                    podium
                    kerkythea
                    artlantis
                    lightup
                    idx renditioner
                    vray (coming soon)

I wouldnt neccessarily say that iClone is a rendering program. Its a 3D animation program, I know because I make props for their movies (with sketchup). Here is one of my own short animations http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbmAvdIATiE (sketchup model).

Its useful (ish) as a rendering software though the results tend to vary.

                        iClone Sketchup render

                        If in doubt... DO it!

It would be nice if each renderer entry showed whether or not it's free.

                                  Hi guys!
I suggest you change the price under "Fryrender": at the moment it's 795€, not 395€.
                                  This could be misleading.

                                          Here's one that's missing

The new Octane Render (fully interactive, node based, unbiased render on GPU, 15x faster than CPU unbiased renderers)
99 euros, free demo, Windows / Linux / OSX

                                          Currently supporting OBJ only
WILL SUPPORT COLLADA SOON 😍 WOOP
