Help with Templates
-
Hello,
I noticed other programs (Blender, 3Ds Max) have a template that gives you 3 views on 1 screen of the model. For example you can have the top view, side and 3D view.I am wondering if sketchup has this, since is a very nice feature. If not, I might switch to Blender because of its limitless possibilitys.
So does sketchup have this type of view?

Nope, SU does not offer that four screen type of display. I've 3ds max a bit and I can't get by without the 4-view. In SketchUp, its just not necessary because it is so much easier to model and navigate without needing the simultaneous views.

Many of the other 3D modelling applications have these 3 ortho views because that's the only way to precisely move things in certain directions for instance (you'd mostly use the 4th, 3D view as a preview window only).
In SU, like Chris says, there's no need for them. What you can do however is to set up 3 additional scenes with these views and switch between the scenes - yet you won't be able to see all at the same time.

Ok thank you. I am just used to it in other programs, and kinda wanted it here. But that is true, it is easyer to navigate in SU.
But I have another question. If my model is big, sometimes certain textures and objects will dissapear as I am orbiting. Is there a way to stop this. I feel that this might be because of my computer not being top of the line

That is built in to SketchUp to help speed up orbiting on large models. redrawing the textures and linework on large models gets very taxing on a system, so it drops that stuff out when it needs to.

Also, this is why often, when doing the"modelling" (building) part of the work, with l;arger models it's better to turn textures off completely. If you are in monochrome model, at least you can see what's front and what's back face. This (and a couple of other tricks like turning off shadows or "hide the rest of the model" while working on a detailed component) can speed up work even with a slower computer.
