Download SketcUp 7 from non English computers/locations

Hi Gaieus, hi folks.

I went to google.sketchup.com and I get the welcoming page in French.

I choose English as the language and get the Home page in English.

I click on the large blue button at the upper rigth of the page that shows "Download Google SketchUp".

I get to the download page at:

http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/download/

And then I click the large blue button at the top rigth of the page that shows "Download Google SketchUp Pro".

I get to the download page at :

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

(sketchup.google.com)

I fill in all the fields and then I press the "Agree and download" button at the bottom.

I get to the page at:

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

(sketchup.google.com)

Which is in French and thanks me to have downloaded SU. The downloading did not take place, so I clicked the blue text to do a manual download. Nothing happens.

In that same page, I switch to English and I am taken to this page:

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

(sketchup.google.com)

Which has a blue button stating "Download SketchUp 7".

I click it and I am back to square one at the page :

Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

(sketchup.google.com)

This is quite frustrating, to say the least, since I have still to delay the implementation of SU in my company since nearly all the peoples wanting SU will not be able to download it since nearly all if not all our computers use Windows in French. I am talking about a potential of a few hundred users.

I will report this as a bug on the beta forum.

Just ideas.

I have, already, Jean - they just need more info because they obviously cannot see the issue "from home".

Jean,
I think that you are seeing a "Thanks you for downloading" without having downloaded SU7 is because the popup that brings up the dialog asking you to save the installer has been blocked. This should depend on your Browser settings. Can you allow popup for your browser and try again?

Let me know if this helps.

The general issue we have heard of is that the download page is missing the central piece, like in the attached picture in the zip file.
We are interested in getting more info in order to be able to reproduce that.

Hi Simone, hi folks.

Pop-ups were enabled. I tried again with no more succes.

I checked and the popup on the french page shows correctly, however, it offer me to download the version 6 in french. When, on this same page, I use the pull down languages list to choose Englis, I am redirected to an English page but this page do not correspond to the one shere I was (in French). In fact, it is the first page in the download sequence.

This is all on my work PC. This evening, I will try on my home Mac.

By the way, the Information pages that I had to fill with name, company, phone number, etc. seems to present a glitch in its interface.

When asked for country, I choose Canada in the pull down list.

Then, under State/Province, I see all of the USA states but none of the canadian provinces are shown. I need to choose the Non applicable choice and then use the field on the rigth to type Quebec. If I remember correctly, the previous interface showed the US states and then, at the end, a list of the canadian provinces.

Hi folks.

I tried again to download SU7 for Windows (it do not matter if I choose the OS X for Mac version of SU) on my Mac with Safari as the browser and got the same result, After clicking the "Agree and download" button, I am automatically sent to a page in French and the file entitled "GoogleSketchUpWEN.exe is dowloaded. The file is only 32.5 Megs, which let me think it is SU free without Layout although I started with the Download SketchUp Pro button. The WEN at the end of the name suggest that it is for Windows (Good) and in English (Good also), I dont know if it is SU 7. I do not want to ruin my present installation on my work PC.

I am an Italian customer, when I go in order to unload the releaase 7 (Italian translation)the browser redirect to me at the page of the release 6.

I think this is not a "bug" on the page but a "feature" Google thinks is cool (sorry guys - I have ranted enough about Google sites - not only SU - constantly trying to decide what language pages I shouldsee instead of what I'd like to see; as if we were illiterate in other languages than our native ones).

If you switch to the English sites first, you should be able to end up at the English (thus SU 7) download page at some point.

When I go to the page :http://www.sketchup.google.com, I am presented with a page in French.

Then I use the pull down list at the upper right corner to switch to English.

I am presented another page, in English.

On this page I press the Download button and I am presented with the page, in English, where you have to give your name, phone number, E-MAil, etc.

When I finish filling all these fields, I press the button at the bottom of the page entitled "Agree and download".

I am presented with a page in French and a message is given about downloading SU 6.

Again, I use the pull down language list to switch back to English and I am presented with the page :http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/download/.

Back to square one.

In conclusion, it do not work. Neither on my work PC or my home Mac which uses OS X in French.

Seems there was always the same : French version is updated some months after the start of a new version

Browser Add-ons: /FindBar/, Better Gmail2, BugMeNot, ColorfulTabs, Colorzilla, Download Embedded, Download Statusbar, DownThemAll!, Firebug, FireFTP, Flagfox, Flashblock, Foxmarks, Gmail Space, IE Tab, Leet Key MeasureIr, NoScript, Remove It Permanently, Text Formatting Toolbar, Web Developer, WOT.

I can't download SketchUP free edition from Google when using Firefox. I even tried enabling all scripting through NoScript Add-on, and made sure nothing was blocked or removed from my Add-ons. I can download it with IE, though.

Anyone else run into this problem? I'm going to try booting Firefox in safe mode with no extensions to see if anything is messing with it and will report that here.
