.dwf Import
-
Does anybody know how to import .dwf files?
-
How about printing to pdf and importing as some image file?
-
There are one or two shareware dwf_to_dwg converters, with free-trials...

Thanks to both of you. I have already printed as pdf, didn't even think of importing as image file from there. Conversion would preserve at least some detail that this approach wouldn't. Can you identify the converters? I did a quick google and couldn't find any.

I'm not familiar with dwf too much, but is it a shareable version of a dwg for the viewer or something? Did you print it to a pdf from cad itself? If so, it might actually still have all its linework saved as vector info. Open the .pdf into illustrator to see if its still there.

Sorry if I'm waaay off, I'm just thinking out loud.

Chris,
You have it about right. The files are smaller. The originator can make it look like a set of the sheets that would be printed, in one compact file. Detail bubbles can be linked to take you to the detail. You can view it using DL software or online. I thought part of the idea was to produce a doc. (like pdf) which was not easily changed or ripped-off, which can be a hopped-up version of the hardcopy. I didn't know there were DWF to DWG translators.
I prefer to view pdf myself, much faster (usually).

They claim to be a dwf to dwg converter. I use one of their products that allows you to save down newer versions of cad files to older versions so us with 2005 can use 2008 files for example.
