this helps a little, but it is not the result i am seeking.

i am creating a concrete skatepark and i need to
create transitioned embankments and pools that
            vary in height and angle.

            like for example, this link,

            Error 404 (Not Found)!!1

            favicon

            (sketchup.google.com)

            how did this individual
create this? do i need particular tools or is there
            some sort of appliable instruction?

It looks as if you could do most of that with the follow me tool. Have a look at the mini tutorial for some more ideas.

This method isnt particularly good for transitions and changes of angle. You might want to look in to the soap skin bubble plugin ( http://www.tensile-structures.de/sb_software.html ) and possibly subdivide and smooth.

kewl, i got the soap, i do not have the follow me tool in
the version i have, just 6, not 6 pro.
i have bought it, but haven't received it yet.

is the follow me tool downloadable?

ok...i found the follow me tool, haven't tried it yet,
found the soap bubble tool, it RULES!

one issue...i haven't figured out how to put a
clean face on the wireframe...is this doable?

What clean face and what wireframe? Do you mean the facets of the result of SSB?

If so, simply right click > Soften/smooth and slide the slider until it is softened enough.

                    Gai...

is there a way i can make all these lines appear less
prominent than they are, softer even, that the image
wouldn't look so sketchy...without starting completely over...

If you go window->styles then click through the little row of buttons untill you get to one that has a little 'profiles' tick box, turn that off and the lines should appear less prominent.

Its a little hard to say looking at the pic, but getting the and holding ctrl while you go over the lines might help as well.
