really sorry but i don't quite understand what you are asking, do you need help modeling this shape?

sorry, didn't read the thread title properly!
do you have some drawings from other perspectives, to give more of an idea of the shape.

        cheers

I think you have to use a ruby call Subdivide and Smooth.

Take a look to this post

            ocean,

This was done using skin.rb. Obviously, the more sections you use, the smoother the contour.

Heres a quick attempt using subd and smooth, somewhat lacking in elegance though.

                    ocean,

Just select two adjacent sections (circles) and click the Skin toolbar button. Each circle will be part of two skinning operations as it is joined with its neighbors on either side. If you're using the version that Darrel just uploaded, set the Preferences to:
                    Skin Method: By Distance
                    Prep Method: None
                    Clean: Yes
                    Smooth: --

                        Voder,

Your excellent example gave me an idea. Wouldn't it be great to have a ruby to do the first part of your example. It seems logical enough. Two shapes: divide the first one in sections. Create a scaled slice with the second shape... Could this be done. It could even skin it for you afterwards.
