Sketchup Bugs
-
Hello everyone.
Edit: these bugs all seem to be solved by turning off hardware acceleration, but if you want to comment anyway, please feel free. My card is not very old so perhaps the devs should not check that box by default.
First bug: when I fire up SU and bring in a component, often within moments I'm unable to select that component by clicking on it with the select tool. How do I reliably select components?
Second bug: I can click and drag a selection marquee over the component, and it becomes highlighted, but when I right click to edit the component, the component is deselected. How do I reliably select and then right click a component?
Third bug: when I bring in a component and try to line it up ("snap" it) with another component, sometimes it lines up like I want it to, then when I click to drop it into the scene it goes off to Timbuktu. Other times it won't even pretend to be ready to align properly. Rarely, it does what I want. How do I get around this?
Fourth bug, or just stupid functionality: when I want to drop ruler lines on a component, SU acts stupid. E.g., I can bring in a sheet of plywood, select the ruler, click on the corner of the component, move in an inch along the edge of the component, and click again. Fine, I get a ruler point. But that's as far as I can go. I can't click on the ruler point, move another inch, and drop another ruler point. How do I make the ruler into an ACTUAL RULER?
Thanks in advance.

to me it sounds as if the first three bugs can be fixed by enabling the "correct reversed picking driver" function directly below "hardware acceleration" in the preferences window.
the second thin with the ruler: you need to place your first click not on any significant point (endpoint, corner, middlepoin) but on a line (curser shows a red dot at the tip). now you will get a dotted line to place as construction aid.
I hope this solves your problems and you can change your name

Since they all seem to work when hardware acceleration is off it sound like a graphic driver bug. Is your graphics driver up to date? What hardware do you have?
