    Hi everyone.

I have a bit of experience with sketchup and I have made complete models before in sketchup.

The thing is, this time the model I am planning on creating has a lot of curves and domes.

Here's my actual sketch, sorry for the lined paper and messiness, it was a quick brainstorm sketch:

The lower portion is based on this museum by Santiago Calatrava:

I have a few questions, could someone please provide me with some advise on how I can achieve these sort of curves? Also, I am okay with making a perfect circle dome, but I am unsure on how to make an oval dome. Also any advise on the columns/pillars.

Any advise, tutorials/links that relate to this style, help, or anything would be greatly appreciated.

an oval dome can be created by using scale tool on a round dome. Columns seem to be strait forward. Bu it hard to tell all of your intentions just a sketch.
If you like you can brake down your model into parts, and do a little sketch of every part, I would be more then happy to assist you. Even do a couple of tutorials.

Oh thanks for the tip on making an oval dome. That helped a lot.

Also thanks for your offer to help me, that would be great, tomorrow I will sketch the few parts that I need help on.

If your model doesnt need to be too accurate you might have some luck with the FFD tool: http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/scf/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=6029&hilit=+Plugin&start=0

You will certainly need one or two Rubies to help with I guess.

            Soap Skin Bubble
            Joint Push Pull
From Contours on the Sandbox Tools could help.
            FFD as Remus mentioned

These are just a few suggestions. You could use more, none or totally different ones.

Thanks, those all look really helpful, I'll try them out.

                Tonto,

Your question reminds me of this thread (jan2008):

Maybe it will help you in any way.
