Billing Question?
-
I just completed my first freelance job. I'm going to drop the drawings off in the morning and the client wants me to type up a bill to show just for record. It took me 5 hours to complete at 30 dollars per hour. I don't know what it should say or look like... I have an idea but I don't want to do something elementary. Does someone have any advice or examples that could help me out?

Bubba,
Here is one a simple word format I use on my letterhead. The line items were for a specific project to itemize the final amount.

I hhey aren't going to pay you up front, but mail you a checkk innstead, you might add a line aad a similar request recently. For what it's worth, here's the format I used. If they aren't going to pay you up front, but mail you a check instead, you might add a line at the bottom stating when payment is due.

Thanks Daniel and Rhankc! This is a lot of help!

My advise - 'they' get your drawings (and invoice) - 'you' get the cheque - fair exchange.
The cheque in the post senario is a recipe for disaster (unless you are dealing with a company or corporation, where if they don't pay up you could always go and protest outside their office!!)
Works for me!

I am going to drop off the drawings at lunch with the invoice attached. He said they're going to have a check waiting for me when I get there but just wanted to have the invoice for billing purposes. Thanks again for your advice... I'm new to this whole scenario but I welcome it with open arms (and wallet ). Best wishes! BubbaLove
PS: You think this works? I copied Daniels (thanks again) invoice...
