[Tutorial > Modeling] How to draw road markings
-
Done a quick 'How-To' over lunch, hope its clear enough:
-
Nice Paul. I like the transparent over the textured surface. Makes a great effect.
-
I'm gonna try it out
-
Paul,
This is fantastic! I've always done the stripes the same, but cut them into the road surface...which turns into a living hell if I have to adjust the grading for some reason. Keeping them separate will solve lots of headaches! (And the transparency looks pretty cool too.)
Thanks bunches! -
That is good Paul. I did wonder how you had created the yellow lines in your current project.
Thanks -
Can someone reup the file?

Done

i like this, and just in then nick of time too, about to complete a model on a new housing development, and this is just the right finishing touch

Pav,
I think we have another way of achieving this. I would draw my plan lines and drape them over the terrain. The terrain has to be mesh though. The lines will cut faces in the terrain and then paint faces .
-
yeah that is how i would normally have acheived this, but i find it can be rather messy, not to mention time consuming.
i have just tried this method out, and as far as i can tell, as long as the road doesn't have vastly differeing topography, it is more effective.
of course it is always useful to have more than one method in your sketchup arsenal.
