    • RE: 3d Terrain from 2d spot heights

I currently have this in Autocad, but when I transfer it to sketchup to use contours it doesn't work.

I have also tried to used point cloud and it doesn't work either.

      Anyone have any ideas.

    • Spot heights (AutoCad) to Contours (Sketchup)

      Hi,

I have been given a survey with a series of spot heights, I need to create 3D terrain from this, I need to make these contours so that I can use them in sketchup.

In the autocad file I have removed everything but the spot heights, by spot heights I mean a 2D image of an (x) with the height in metres next to it.

I have then run a program on AutoCad that recognizes the text and crosses and gives them a height (Z) value turning it into a 3D connect the dots haha.

This is where I encounter the problem when i try to import this into sketchup and use contours it does not recognizes it and nothing happens.

      Anyone have any advice?

I can upload the files if you need to see it in more detail.

      Thanks.

I have a similar problem, I have an autocad file that has a series of spot heights with the heights in text next to them.

I have run the autolisp program on them and now have them at their spot heights. But then when I export them into sketchup and click the contour button on sand box. It says that you must first select the contours to use.

Any Ideas what I am doing wrong?

      Thanks
