    • RE: Anti-SketchUp! Snobbery [or Ignorance?]

I would also like to toss in my two cents for "Sketchup discrimination" as it were, as I experience it a lot but from more than just the architects - most of the work I do is in the video games sector, doing free mod work and such on my own projects. I have found that Sketchup is very much looked down upon, because it is so cheap and easy to learn. Many times I have been told to simply get "a real modeling" software suite.

Now, granted, they do have a point when they say that SU simply doesn't have most of the features that the other suites have, and I eagerly await plugins or SU7 to address these shortcomings (bone-based animation support, proper exporters, and even simpler than the already amazing texturing process would do wonders). But most of their comments derive from the simple "it's cheap and easy so how can it be good?" line of thinking.

Thank you πŸ˜„ And would that work?

And as to the rendering, maybe, I'm doing WIP renders at the moment...texturing progress:

All texturing is of course done in SU πŸ˜„

    • RE: Any news from Google on future Sketchup versions?

Well that's excellent news! πŸ˜„ I just haven't seen any word on the official site, or heard anything about a new version, that's all. I'd love to see some new features in the next iteration that allows Sketchup to become more useful in non-architectural fields (hint game design hint hint). But thanks for clearing that up and filling me with hope! πŸ˜„ Hehe

    • Any news from Google on future Sketchup versions?

I'm probably just being a pessimist, but it seems like Sketchup development has been all but abandoned over at Google. Are there any plans for future versions, and has anyone been able to contact the developers at all?

(Sorry if this has been already discussed or is in the wrong forum πŸ˜„ ).

    • Hello everyone, my spaceship again! :D

Wow, new forum! πŸ˜„ Haven't posted in awhile unfortunately - college life has been busy for me. This was made out of about three hours of doodling, just extruding, resizing, editing, etc - there's only three unique objects in there, discounting the engine thrusters in the back - the front things, the center, and the back things.

      Anyway, enjoy (I hope!) πŸ˜„

EDIT: This, hopefully, will be a UT3 level - I'm going to blow it up (I know, I modeled the whole thing just to blow it up πŸ˜„), and use the chunks as a level πŸ˜„.
