Tunstall Court, been on my to model list for a couple of years now....
Designed by architect T. Lewis Banks and built in 1894-5 for the great Victorian Industrialist Lord Furness, she is one of the most important villas built in Hartlepool.
The history of the house is fascinating, there's tons on the internet and I found myself reading more than modeling. At one time she was used for the convalescence of sick and injured workers from the ship yards, later she was donated to the people of the town and used for educational purposes, until the mid 1980's when she was sold to developers.
Planning permission was granted ~2010-11 to preserve the building and divide her into apartments with several houses to be constructed in the grounds...left unprotected she is now a wreck, totally gutted. The two gatehouses are listed but not the main house

March 2014 planning application was submitted to demolish her and build fourteen executive houses. Now history with our council and other buildings in the town usually goes (so I'm told), Friday afternoon planning approval followed by the handing over of brown envelopes, demolition starts Sat morning and is completed by Sun evening, the folks of the town are informed sometime the following week.
The Victorian society has requested the council to defer demolition for 6 mths and look at ways for a "sensitive development"
instead!!!
So after freezing my b****cks off on a freezing march day counting bricks in the middle of a muddy field, squeezing every spare hour modeling whilst up to my ears.....
