I'm very sorry Oliver....I really am. I'm "in your shoes" if I can say so, I know how it feels. My mom have leukemia, we got this bad news two months ago. The good news is that is not in an advanced stage, and is kind of old (75 years). The doctor said it will be fine for the rest of her life, the treatment will keep the disease under control.
The point is....this kind of ....event will chance the way you see life. I don't want such a feeling for no one. I'm thinking about my health more then ever. This is a good thing, this topic IS a good thing! Sorry for being of-topic, but I wanted to let you know that I feel your pain man. Let's hope for the better!

RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
Cheers Oli and enjoy your vaping!
I bought that Evod clearomizer to see if it's better. And it is.I'm vaping right now one of my first juice (24 mg Coca-Cola). The TH is stronger, clouds of vapours. I bought a new liquid, 18 mg apple, but I don't like it. It gives me a bitter taste at the end, although when I inhale the vapours I feel apple and smell like apple. I should mention it's a "VG" type of E-Liquid. Any thoughts about this matter? I mean, none of us talked about this, as far as I can say right now, I definitely prefer PG juice. It was another brand as well. I should dig some more about this, as I'm going to buy another Evod and some spare pins.
I'm still waiting for others opinions, as they didn't said nothing after they started vaping. I'm most concerned about Frederik. It was kind of disappointed, mostly because of the E-liquids. It seams it is important as well, what you're vaping, not only the rig you got.
Cheers,

Very strong, not even thinking of cigs. Wonder how all the other guys are doing however.
+1 on that. I'll make 2 weeks as well tonight. All the words Oli posted in his first post are this thread is true. I had a hard day at work, moving some big furniture, lots of stairs, couple of hours of effort etc. and I didn't felt suffocating like I used to. Somehow , I can't stand smoke smell anymore....
I hope other guys are doing fine. It's been quiet lately.
Cheers everybody! -
RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
Cheers, Oli! Yeah I'll definitely try that one, looks great, you can match the colour with the battery, and the pin/head is at the bottom of the tank. I'm curious to see the difference.
And, as a side note, today I celebrate one week without smoking! -
RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
Oli, I found this type of clearomizor. This is the one (reinforced) that you told me to search for? The pin/resistance is at the bottom of the tank.

RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
Good luck Kim! If you drink coffee, I suggest to vape a tabaco flavour, it works the best.
I'm 5 days free smoking right now. Yesterday, I went to the shop with a colleague of mine to get his own e-cig. At first, he didn't believed me when I told him I wasn't craving for normal cigs any more. He smoked like 30 cigs per day. So, after one day without smoking, he is fine. Another person decided to go for vaping today, so I think tomorrow I'll get him to the shop as well.
As a side note, I noticed I don't vape as much as in first two days. But I enjoy vaping more and more.
It's a revolution! One with vapours.
Cheers,

RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
I'm on day 3 without smoking, and I'm feeling great! How are you guys doing ? Kim?
-
RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
Well done Kim! Yours have clearomizers with long wick. Oli said it's better, but I don't find them available in my country.
What I forgot to say in my previous post, is the fact that you feel that "kick" like the real smoke.
Oli, what method do you have when you clean your clearomizers, and how often you do it?
Cheers! -
RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
OK, so it's more then 24 hours since I smoked my last stinkie. I can't believe it's so easy, way to easy.
I started yesterday at 8 pm (vaping) until 11 pm. I was taking like two puffs at 5 maybe 10 minutes intervals. Don't ask me why, it just felt ok for me this way. This morning around 8 o'clock, I was drinking my coffee, vaping and keep smiling like an idiot. It felt right, me and my wife drinking coffee in the same room. It was a great morning.
So, like Oli said "it like cheating". Now about my e-cig, it's called eGo-tech (iGo3) and the kit have: 2x Clearomizor iGo 3, 2x battery's eGo-Tech iGo3 at 650 mAh, 1x Adaptor 220 V, 1x circular charger (docking charger),1x USB cable. The battery autonomy it's like 900 puffs, But I can't tell, because I used both of my cigs, one with coca cola flavour, and the other without flavour. I'm on 24mg/g nicotine by the way. I only have two liquids because I didn't knew how it's going to taste like, but I definitely like the one with the flavour.
What can I say more, I'm in the technical stuff now, because I know I'll have to buy some "bits" sooner or later. As a conclusion, after one day only, everybody in my family is happy, because I was the only one who smoked. I didn't craved for a real one since I started yesterday, and I think this is the most important thing. I was smoking like a pack per day, and I tried to quit several times, and one thing I remember, and that's the feeling from first days without smoking, almost like a pain. Is not 100% sure others will succeed, but Oli is fine , Pete is fine, iichiversii is fine, I'm fine .....what can I say, if one of you want to quit smoking, then try this option. There is a big chance to join us.
Good job everyone! -
RE: Any smokers here? Wanna quit?
Hey Oli...guess what......I'm on board too!I just got mine couple of hours ago.
I'm happy, my wife's happy...my 2.5 years old kid is not, because he want to play with it.
I think I need to say thank you man. Can't wait the next morning coffee.
I'll get back with more details, but not now. Now I'm happy. Is that normal, or I'm just dizzy?
Cheers,
Stefan

RE: Vray for sketchup toon material ( HELP )
You need to let the render to finish.Toon material won't be visible during the GI calculation .

RE: Flat interior - C&C welcomed!
For me, ambient occlusion works fine in this situation, but not with the default settings.Try to make a small radius a small amount as well, something like 0.2 radius and 0.4 for the amount of AO. Still, I must admit, that glass (table and back-splash) looks brilliant. I'd never succeed to make one like that.

RE: Exterior Real Estate
Great work FoXar, I'm still using your tables from time to time. Reclaim your "stage name"
it's good to have old friends back!
Cheers,

RE: Same result with Vray?
I rendered recently something similar, as you can see in the image attached.
The trick is to put another colour/material at the above side of the ceiling, and then making it 100% transparent.
I'm using v-ray by the way.
Cheers!

RE: Thermal paste application
Appreciate all the comments guys, just finish the job one hour ago. I didn't succeed in the first place, because I tilted the cooler trying to push the screws into position.
I had to clean the paste and reapply. The good thing was that I saw how the paste spread, and it was perfect, all the surface of the processor, but nothing more. I used the line technique (horizontal one to match my cores position), a very very tiny skinny line, and I spread some on the cooler base as well. Those pipes who form the contact zone, didn't looked so good in reality, so I had to make sure to fill the gap between them.
I didn't had the inspiration to shoot some pictures, because I was too busy to curse, since I had to remove the motherboard from the case.Stupid junky case.
I have these temps with 25 degrees in the room, idle processor:
Temperatures:
Motherboard 38 °C (100 °F)
CPU 32 °C (90 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #1 35 °C (95 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #2 35 °C (95 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #3 40 °C (104 °F)
CPU #1 / Core #4 36 °C (97 °F)
GPU Diode (DispIO) 34 °C (93 °F)
GPU Diode (MemIO) 37 °C (99 °F)
Seagate ST3500320AS 32 °C (90 °F)
Now I find the GPU cooler annoying .....

RE: Thermal paste application
Thanks allot guys, I'll be monitoring the temperatures of the cores, and if it looks good, then the job is done. At this moment, in idle, the temperature is @37C (99F). Unfortunately, the cooler will be delivered tomorrow.

Stefan -
RE: Thermal paste application
Thanks for taking the time to answer, Numerobis!
I think I'll make some tests, clean and reapply just to be sure it is spread correct.
Thanks again! -
Thermal paste application
Hello,
Recently, my CPU cooler started to "scream" when I use all the cores for rendering.
I should mention I have an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 @2.66GHz.
So, I decided to upgrade my stock Intel cooler. I opted for a Cooler Master Hyper 412S, and probably tomorrow I'll replace the old one.
Now the problem is, after spending half a day browsing the internet, I still scratch my head about the correct technique of applying the thermal compound. I didn't received my cooler yet, but I have the manual/instructions sheet from the internet, and there is an image with the instructions where it said "apply a thin layer of thermal grease onto the surface of the cooler base".
The question is why, on every reviews I watched, the thermal paste was applied onto the processor, with different techniques of course (little dot, line , spread etc.)
I also checked on the Arctic Cooling site where they have a nice guide on this mater, where they said that you should apply that knowing where the cores are (In my case, a horizontal line is need it).
My first choice is the dot option, since is kind of "universal" without greasing the cooler base. Even if it is a cooler with direct contact heat pipes, the surface created by the pipes is flat and uniform, as you can see in the image attached.
Sorry for the long monologue, hopefully, someone with experience share some light in this matter.
Regards,
Stefan
