    • Use of Googles trademarks

      Hi!

I've been wanting to make a Sketchup site or a forum in my country, but as I understand restrictions apply for the use of registered Google trademarks. The question is: what things should the site qualify for, for it to be granted a permission from Google to use it's trademark "Sketchup" in a domain name? Or is it something that is only governed by local law and I shouldn't worry to hear a mean message from Google while I'm not doing anything wrong to hurt it's reputation?

A very great plugin that helps making spirals is Sketchy FFD. And in combination with Fredo scale, you can get really good results. Here is a video of me modeling a bottle, where I had a good use of this tehnique.

    • RE: Google Chrome +/- (extensions?)

I'm using SRWare Iron, that basically is a Chrome mod. It lacks the one thing that kept me from using chrome before- it does not want to know everything about me... I heve been using it for two weeks now and I don't think I'll be going back. Love everything about it.

    • RE: Freelancers...

I would also suggest you to polish up your youtube channel, as it is a great way to present your work for a large audience. My work may not be as good as yours but for the few hundred thausand video views I got, I also have got a couple of small job offers locally and overseas. Your already uploaded videos are great but the problem I see in them is that you don't tag them correctly. Because of that, people can't find your work while searching for something and your missing a hell of a lot exposure.

      Thanks!

Bob. I just merged togeather the render with some images of different sketchup styles in Photoshop.

Everything other then the interior and exterior visualisation were actually not in the assignment, but I wanted to make them so to help the future students to better understand the construction details. I know a lot of people that have dificulties understanding draftings, so I had an idea to make a library of these kind of images in my web page.

Not everything, just the few main parts. In the final presentation I'll also show the HWAC of the house and these images

A little too late to change something in the construction now.
I guess I made the pavement material a little bit too large, so it doesn't look too right now. I'll try to put something better on it.

Just made a quick render of the entry.

Thanks. Whit Lumion I can make quick and nice renders, but they still need a lot of post procesing to make them really stand out, as a lot of detail is lost and there are many limitations to the render engine.

    • My house project

Hey. I wanted to share some pictures I made for my final college project. The deadline is already in a week, so I thought maybe you could give me some last minute crits about them.

All made in sketchup. Rendered with lumion and vray.

Very nice site. Also bookmarked. πŸ‘
One minor thing I could suggest you to fix would be the tutorial navigation. I instictively press on the picture to open the tutorial but instead I can just open the picture. And I don't think it is necessary to write the title of the tutorial twice, the pictures are good enought.

    • RE: If I were 5 years old...

Thanks! This is actually my first real try at NPR. The plain renders looked too booring, so I wanted to make them look a bit cartoony. I guess this kind of style suits very well for a childs room.

I wonder if we could start an interesting thread with this.
Starting with "If I were 5 years old" and then continuing with something you would have liked to have if you were 5 years old again with a picture from sketchup attached.

Everyone, jump right in and spread some nostalgia around here!
Leave your logic for a rest and let your inner child do the modeling for a while πŸ˜‰

      Thanks.

I always try to make the exterior exposure bigger for a more photorealistic look. It also helps to merge the interior and the exterior togeather more naturally.

    • A quick project

This is a quick visualisation project I made to help out a mate in school. The interior models are mostly from 3dwh. I really enjoyed trying to make the renders sunny and moody. Rendered with lumion an Vray.

    • RE: Most impressive dynamic components

The initial idea was to make a 3- 4 minute long video that should look like an advertisement to try and really improve my video editing skills and promote Sketchups possibilities. I hadn't thought of making a whole movie yet, nor do I have the proper knowlage in DC's to make one. Thank you for the heads-up Shay. Once I'll progress more in this project I'll contact you.

Thanks Howard. I decided to make this topic here because I think the sub forum is not getting that much attention and is mostly used by a small group of people that visit it casually. But maybe I'm wrong... Only way to know is if the mods can share some board statistics πŸ˜‰
