    • RE: Issues with merging two components

      Thanks for the response.
      I kept playing with it.
I didn't think it was right.
I'm not sure what was different, but I started from scratch and all is working good now. Something must have tied one component to the other.
We can let this post end.
If I can take a raincheck on some help down the road ...
      Thanks ...

    • Issues with merging two components

I am new to this forum and just getting started with SU 7.1
      Quite a powerful tool!
I have searched but don't know what to search for.
Also, I didn't know how or what to call this problem in the above subject line.
I have a simple set of steps that I made a component.
      I have a 2x8 that is also a component.
I lay the 2x8 on edge down the steps and through the leading edge of some of the steps.
It appears the both components are merged into one.
My problem is that if I try and select the 2x8 to move it again, part of my steps move with it.
How do I only select one component to move it?
Is there a better technique for this operation.
      What is this process called?
If there is a post or tutuorial talking about this, please point me to it.
      Thanks, Bob
