    • Kitchen Rendering: lighting problem

I finished this kitchen rendering and could not get the lighting the way I wanted at the bar area in the foreground. I used an emissive light source inside of the light fixture and then placed a translucent material for the lens of the fixture. The light that is reflected off the counter top onto the column is really blotchy. I can't adjust the quality of the emissive light source. Any idea on how to clean that up other then in post production?

Any other comments about the rendering are welcome.

Great job! How are you currently addressing stone arches in SU. I am having trouble getting a texture to look right in sketchup without having to correct it in pp. Love your work!

So what did you decide to do for the lighting? Post a pic.

I am using Vray. You are correct about the quality of lighting. I would only try this with general lighting. I have not tried it myself. Just a theory. I usually render smaller spaces and can use individual lights.

Try creating a emissive material bitmap. Layout the lights on the bitmap the way you would have them on the ceiling. I think this would work for general lighting and would cut down on the number of lights you have to place in the model.
