    • RE: The "Duh!" thread (aka the Doh! thread)

Don't know if this one has been mentioned at all, but I frequently hit the window maximise button by accident when intending to mininimise or close a file. If you have many toolbars open and laid out how you want them, when you re-maximise the window, they will not return to the positions you had set up. Frustrating!

The solution is once you have your toolbars how you like them, go to "view" menu, then "toolbars", scroll down until you see "save toolbar positions", click this. Once this is done, you can return to the same menu at any time to click "restore toolbar positions" if they become disordered.

Tip. remember to resave your toolbar positions if you change the layout / get new plugins.

    • RE: Small Comercial Bldg in the countryside

This is a very nice image, has a good colour balance and feel to it. Enough contrast but not overdone. The birds flying over bring the scene to life. I've often thought a still render could be enhanced by animated elements such as this as a kind of short animation clip, maybe that loops.

    • RE: A sketchup+maxwell rendering practice

The modelling looks very good and clean. From recently using Maxwell I can advise that in order to successfully render interiors, it is necessary to alter the physical camera settings (I made the classic mistake of increasing the light intensity to compensate for a dark render).

To me the render looks a bit dark, so change the ISO settings of the camera "film" to a higher value. If it is currently 100, try 400 and then 800. This mimicks the use of settings on a real world camera within the renderer.

      Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜„

    • RE: External render for client

Very nice, I like the moodiness of the sky, good for contrast with the subject, makes it stand out. A few details, but others have picked them up. Nothing that jumps out though. Hope your client likes it.

ThomThom, thanks for this great plugin. Just installed and saving me loads of usually fiddly workaround editing.
