Agree.....Solid color. Also I would make the legs on the chairs and bar stools chrome or a more noticeable metal material. Right now they look a bit off. Nice lighting and renders otherwise.

Excellent work! Nice to see how close the model is to the original.

The last one is much better. The drapes really help to give this a lived in feel. I would say the only thing this render is missing is a view out of the door. Maybe a little more anti-aliasing work but other than that this is a great start.

Eric,
Thanks. I like the reflections on the top ones better but I struggle with the speed to quality trade off. Vray is rendering those in the matter of hours and Artlantis in the mater of minutes. For the small differences in quality I can not justify waiting for Vray.
Coen,
Thanks. I too like the bloom effect as it would be true to life. The worksurface would bloom onto the panels as it shows here. My only issue thus far with Artlantis is that when rendering at higher resolutions some of the materials do not look the same as at lower resolutions. An odd little bug. I wish I had more time to work on it but the project is due by friday. With that in mind I need to make a decision as to use Artlantis or Vray. Right now I am rendering on my render farm with Vray and rendering with Artlantis Studio on my M90. I will post the results if they differ from the previously attached renders. I am hoping Artlanis 2.0 will be better but from what I have heard and seen it is still VERY buggy but shows good promise. Nothing I will dump the money on until I know it is stable.
Best regards,
Scott
I am still open to comments and ideas
An updated render using Artlantis Studio. Comments are welcome. I can not knock Artlantis for it's speed. This render was done in 30 minutes rendered at 6500 pixels wide (a feat I would not have the time for vray to finish even with a 6 pc render farm). I then took the image into CS3 and used virtual photographers softening filter. Thats all the post process work. This is for a paying client so any input as to which one you like would be helpful.
Best regards,
Scott
Still not complete but almost there. modeled in Sketchup and rendered in Vray. Comments welcome.

Jason,
The image looks good.
Some comments:
The apples look a bit washed out
There needs to be additional lighting as to not rely on rendering the scene with a single (i am guessing) lighting source. This adds to a lack of contrast and the image looking a bit too white. Maybe try lighting the pendants to add some additional contrast and shadows.
I too agree that you SU outputs are amazing and capture the feel of the image with no color.
Best regards,
Scott
Thanks guys. The set up and actual render went really quick. I think I may still play around with this one a bit and post some more soon. Hopefully we will see the new Artlatis today and I can post some shots using that.

These were done for a friend. I only did the rendering in Vray. Comments are welcome.

I remember when I was a kid and I would go to a friends house and they had a tv with THIS antenna but they would just keep adding tin foil until it got reception. Maybe that is the issue here!

This is how I rough things is and then add details from reference materials. This way is nice because the general model can be sent back to a client fairly quick for approvals and then detail can be added later.
Scott
Paul,
I think you may be wrong with the understanding that XP 32bit only recognizes 2GB. See attached. Of course I have been wrong before too

I recently purchased a Olympus Evolt 510 with the dual lens kit and really love it. It does start up fast and has "Live view". It is one of only a handful of DSlr's that use the LCD screen as a viewer. It is a great feature and really sold me for that reason. In addition it can preview aperature and f-stop settings in the lcd prior to taking the shot (or so it says, i have not got that far yet). It is a quite big but surprisingly it fits great in your hand. I purchased the body, 2 lenses and a bag for just over $1000. Well worth a look.

Allanx,
These are quite nice. My only comment would be that the trees really take away from what is a great presentation. They are almost to sketchy or unrealistic in my opinion. The building itself is great but really need some attention to the landscaping. Please continue to post.

I agree with Anssi. The door texture is obviously wrong and stands out quite badly, but in alot of ways this is a nice render as well.

Thanks for everyones input. I finally purchased Proshow Producer last night but have not played with it yet. Once I get something worth showing I will try to post it if the file size is not to big. Thanks again for everyones help.

I saw this site a while back and downloaded a few to play around with.
They are very high poly models with many missing faces. Fine to give you a start but more meant for max or lightwave than skethcup. Nice collection though.

Solo,
Thanks for your reply but have you used any of these? I was looking into the sony products but what I am looking for is what people are using, How they are using it, and what are the learning curves or issues they have found so far.
Thanks again but if you can give me some more insight as to why you would pick sony I would appreciate it.

Guys,
I am looking for a video editing program. Nothing too hardcore or too steep of a learning curve.
I am looking to do the following:
Basic video editing
Add transistions between clips
Add text
Add audio and sound clips (at times overlapping)
Needs to be a windows product
I am willing spend around $600 but it needs to be fairly straight forward.
What are you guys using that you have had success with?
Any suggestions? I have downloaded Adobe Premier and Premier Elements but have not played with them yet.
Best regards,
Scott
