As you see, Museum Maker has been doing some fantastic work on this and for that he deserves mountains of praise.
Thanks to Solo for the particle info. I'll end up using Particular in AFX for the smoke animation, but if you're still interested in helping and would like to model the Vostok capsule, please let me know, because Museum Maker is chomping at the bit to give it a go.

Hello all,

I making a short film about early soviet spaceflight and I need detailed models of an R7 rocket, launchpad, Vostok capsule and capsule interior.
I've tried to build this myself in Sketchup, but I'm failing miserably so I desperately need help!
I have tons of reference material, including measurements, so I'm sure someone with more skill and intelligence than me would find this easy.
I can do the textures and rendering, it's just the modelling I'm struggling with.
